ब्लूटूथ मॉड्यूल, Android 13 में पेश किया गया एक वैकल्पिक Mainline मॉड्यूल है.
Android 16 और इसके बाद के वर्शन में, इस मॉड्यूल को अपडेट किया जा सकता है. इसमें पूरी तरह से सर्टिफ़ाइड ड्यूअल-मोड ब्लूटूथ होस्ट स्टैक होता है. इससे Android डिवाइसों में, क्लासिक ब्लूटूथ और ब्लूटूथ लो एनर्जी (बीएलई), दोनों की सुविधाओं का इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है.
ब्लूटूथ मॉड्यूल का मुख्य मकसद, डिवाइस बनाने वाली कंपनियों, उपयोगकर्ताओं, और ऐप्लिकेशन डेवलपर को बेहतर क्वालिटी वाला ब्लूटूथ अनुभव देना है. इसके लिए, ये काम किए जाते हैं:
तेज़ी से अपडेट उपलब्ध कराना. इनमें नई सुविधाएं, गड़बड़ियां ठीक करना, अलग-अलग डिवाइसों के साथ काम करने की क्षमता को बेहतर बनाना, और सुरक्षा पैच को जल्दी और नियमित तौर पर उपलब्ध कराना शामिल है. ये अपडेट, Android ओएस के रिलीज़ साइकल से अलग होते हैं.
फ़्रैगमेंटेशन को कम करना और पूरे Android इकोसिस्टम के लिए एक जैसा अनुभव देना.
पार्टनर के लिए डेवलपमेंट की प्रोसेस को आसान बनाना. इसके लिए, Android से पुष्टि किए गए ब्लूटूथ मेनलाइन मॉड्यूल उपलब्ध कराए जाते हैं. साथ ही, बार-बार रीबेस करने से बचा जाता है. इससे डेवलपमेंट और टेस्टिंग का खर्च कम हो जाता है.
ब्लूटूथ मॉड्यूल, APEX फ़ॉर्मैट का इस्तेमाल करता है. com.google.android.bt पैकेज में, packages/modules/Bluetooth/android/app में तय किया गया ब्लूटूथ APK, libbluetooth_jni.so में मौजूद लाइब्रेरी, packages/modules/Bluetooth/framework/java/android/bluetooth में मौजूद एपीआई, और एचआईडीएल इंटरफ़ेस शामिल हैं.
