Android 10 में, बैकग्राउंड में जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस करने के लिए रिमाइंडर की सुविधा है. इससे, यह साफ़ तौर पर पता चलता है कि ऐप्लिकेशन के पास डिवाइस की जगह की जानकारी का कितना ऐक्सेस है. साथ ही, उपयोगकर्ताओं को इस ऐक्सेस को कंट्रोल करने में मदद मिलती है. Android 9 और उससे पहले के वर्शन में, कोई ऐप्लिकेशन बैकग्राउंड में चलने के दौरान, उपयोगकर्ता की जानकारी के बिना डिवाइस की जगह की जानकारी ट्रैक कर सकता है. उपयोगकर्ता, Android 10 में इस व्यवहार को रोक सकते हैं. इसके लिए, उन्हें जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस करने की अनुमति के तौर पर, सिर्फ़ ऐप्लिकेशन इस्तेमाल करते समय अनुमति दें या अनुमति न दें को चुनना होगा.

जब कोई ऐप्लिकेशन बैकग्राउंड में, सटीक जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस करने की अनुमति के तरीके ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION से सुरक्षित डेटा ऐक्सेस करता है, तो रिमाइंडर ट्रिगर हो जाता है. उपयोगकर्ता को ग़ैर-ज़रूरी रुकावटों से बचाने के लिए, रिमाइंडर एक ही सूचना में सभी ऐप्लिकेशन की बैकग्राउंड गतिविधि नहीं दिखाता. उपयोगकर्ता को ज़्यादा से ज़्यादा एक दिन में एक रिमाइंडर दिखता है. जब ऐक्सेस का अनुरोध, बैकग्राउंड में जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस करने का रिमाइंडर ट्रिगर करता है, तो यह रिमाइंडर उसी दिन, अगले दिन या कुछ दिनों बाद दिखता है. यह इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि कुल कितने रिमाइंडर भेजने हैं. उदाहरण के लिए, कुल तीन
सूचनाएं दिखाने में 72 घंटे लगते हैं.
इनके लिए सूचनाएं ट्रिगर नहीं होतीं:
- ऐसे ऐप्लिकेशन जिन्हें डिफ़ॉल्ट रूप से अनुमति मिल जाती है. जैसे, सिस्टम की सेवाएं.
- ऐसे ऐप्लिकेशन जिन्हें हमेशा के लिए अनुमति दें के तौर पर, जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस करने की अनुमति दी गई है और जिन्होंने पहले ही बैकग्राउंड में डिवाइस की जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस की है.
- ऐसे ऐप्लिकेशन जिन्हें जगह की जानकारी के अपडेट सिर्फ़ फ़ोरग्राउंड में मिलते हैं.
- ऐसे ऐप्लिकेशन जिन्हें सिर्फ़ जगह की अनुमानित जानकारी के अपडेट मिलते हैं.
पहले से इंस्टॉल किए गए ज़्यादातर ऐप्लिकेशन को डिफ़ॉल्ट रूप से अनुमतियां मिल जाती हैं. बैकग्राउंड में जगह की जानकारी ऐक्सेस करने के लिए रिमाइंडर की सुविधा को लागू करने के लिए, आपको कुछ करने की ज़रूरत नहीं है. साथ ही, इसे पसंद के मुताबिक नहीं बनाया जा सकता. इस सुविधा की जांच, सीटीएस करता है.
